BMQ’s Paul Watchman at Cogo’s “The Race Against Time: How banks can play a more urgent role in the transition to net zero” Webinar

We were delighted to see Ben McQuhae & Co’s Paul Watchman, Global Head of Climate Change and ESG Transition, feature as a panelist at COGO’s webinar “The Race Against Time: How banks can play a more urgent role in the transition to net zero”, joined by Gary Kendall from NatWest and Jonathan Ward from Cogo.

Follow the link below to access the full webinar, and hear Paul give a comprehensive account of why we need banks to rise to the challenge and become important enablers of emissions reduction; why it’s not too late for financial institutions to begin making the net zero transition and where to get started; why banks must look internally as well as externally to achieve a meaningful transition; as well as the need for development of international standards and regulations.

Paul’s expertise is on full display here, putting across just how urgently these changes are needed while offering a hopeful call to arms that, at the same time, the stage is set for widespread cooperation across the financial landscape: “Working together, banks can shift the dial.”

“The UN secretary general has been very frank about what’s happening and what’s not happening – I think we have to get to that stage. It’s all well and good saying the banks will get there eventually, but we don’t have eventually… I think if you give people the opportunity to do the right thing, they will do the right thing.”
