Our founder Ben McQuhae was invited to speak as a panelist on the panel discussion “How Hong Kong can embrace fintech to support ESG and promote green and sustainable finance?” at the Earth Forum 2023: “Empowering Sustainable Finance: Leverage Fintech to Examine ESG and Combat Greenwashing”, co-hosted by Friends of the Earth (HK) and Financial Services Development Council, on 21 April 2023. Co-panelists included Mr Kenneth Hui (Head of the Market Development Division from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority), Mr Daniel Fung (Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council), Ms Karen Lam (Structured Finance and Derivatives Partner, Hong Kong SAR, Linklaters) and Ms Marie-Christine Lee (Founder of Sports for Hope Foundation).
The forum brought together regulators, investors, researchers and fintech practitioners to explore whether Hong Kong was ready to embrace fintech tools (such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things) to support and promote ESG and green and sustainable finance, as well as how these tools can help to improve the transparency and accountability of ESG reporting and combat greenwashing risk.
