On 10 March 2022, our founder Ben McQuhae was invited to sit on a panel discussion hosted by the UNDP Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) to discuss the key takeaways of their 2021 State of Play report published on 28 February 2022, which is based on the FC4S Annual Assessment Programme evaluating the state of sustainable finance across the world’s leading financial centres.
The FC4S Annual Assessment Programme has contributed to map, measure, and understand financial centres’ relative position against best-in-class practices, identifying market failures and barriers that prevent sustainable financial markets from developing.
On the panel with Ben were FC4S colleagues from Lagos, Mongolia and Casablanca, who together shared insights on progress and priorities in green and sustainable finance in respect of the financial centres they represent. Ben, as the Hong Kong representative and steering committee member of the FC4S Network, shared the key green and sustainable finance updates in Hong Kong, as well as the latest initiatives on capacity building and talent support. The webinar also discussed several key areas where more focus is required to underpin progress around the sustainable finance agenda as identified in the 2021 State of Play report.
